Project for analysing directional effects in the thermal infrared range (8-14µm) for heterogeneous scenes

Participating laboratories: ONERA, CESBIO.

Goal: study angle effects in the change of scale of thermo-optical values (brightness, emissivity, temperature) on heteregeneous surfaces in the thermal infrared range.

Means: directional measurements using two infrared cameras (8-14 µm) mounted on a directional bench, able to bear interchangeable surface elements.
To complement the device, a reference surface is placed in the scene (basin of water of known temperature) and directional measurements of the incident atmospheric brightness are taken.

Campaign date: June-August 2001, the data are currently being analysed.

Participants: Laurent Coret (doctoral student at ONERA), Xavier Briottet (ONERA), Keyvan Kanani (trainee at ONERA).
