Data

The data acquired on the PIRRENE site is likely to be useful for the participating laboratories even if they did not acquire it themselves. The PIRRENE web site will thus first identify the various data acquired on the PIRRENE site by its various participants. All of the data are available to PIRRENE participants via the ftp.onecert.fr site (participants can request access rights from pirrene@onecert.fr). For other people who might be interested in the measurements, there are two possibilities:

the data have not been protected in any way and can thus be obtained directly on this web site;

the data are not yet ready for distribution but a request may be sent to the project and/or measurement managers.

The measurements taken on the PIRRENE site up to now are listed below and described in detail further on. When data files are available, a descriptive file is provided. The contact information for various managers has also been given.

meteorological measurements (continuous measurements, free access)

atmospheric measurements by a sunphotometer (continuous measurements, free access)

scintillometry between the X1 et X2 laser bases (continuous measurements)

measurements for the SMOS project (continuous measurements)

measurement campaign for 'Infrared radiometry in the 3-5 µm spectral band

directional measurements of heterogeneous scenes in the thermal infrared range (8-14 µm)

MERIS acquisitions over PIRRENE site

Meteorological measurements (continuous measurements)

top

A meteorological station maintained by ONERA/DOTA continuously acquires the temperature, air pressure and humidity, precipitation, wind direction and speed, total solar radiation, radiation reflected by the ground and finally the ground temperature. Each available file corresponds to one day's measurements (the file has the following format "meteo_JJMMAAAA.txt") and each column is described in the first two header lines (the time given is universal time, i.e. GMT).

The last twenty day data are available here.

ARPEGE meteorological (provided by CNRM) are also available for PIRRENE participants:

Atmospheric measurements by sunphotometer (continuous measurements)

top

A sunphotometer has been installed on the roof of the X1 base. It has been calibrated according to NASA specifications in order to be accepted for the AERONET network (HTML document ). The data are thus downloaded once a day and then processed. They are not available on this site, but may be seen directly on the AERONET site in the 'DATA' feature and then by clicking on the 'Toulouse' site (written in lower case letters). The results are generally processed within 24 hours.

Scintillometry between the X1 et X2 laser bases (continuous measurements)

top

The scintillometer operates continuously between the X1 and X2 bases. The data are however not freely available.

Measurements for the SMOS project (continuous measurements)

top

As part of the SMOS validation campaigns, hydric sensors and temperature sensors have been placed in the ground at various depths between 0 and 1 metres, for bare soil and fallow land. The data are not yet freely available.

For people having a login/password access, they can get the data through the following authentification:

Infrared radiometry campaign in the 3-5 µm spectral band

top

Most of the data were analysed and published (in thesis or articles). For instance an image acquired by the SC1000 infrared camera indicates the contents of the work scene; the temperatures measured by a GRTRAD (9-11 µm) radiometer for each of the materials are also available: mesures_temperatures_materiaux_GRTRAD.xls

Directional measurements of heterogeneous scenes in the thermal infrared range (8-14 µm)

top

The data acquired during the 2001 campaign were mainly analysed in Alain Malaplate PhD Thesis, published in December 2001.

Systematic MERIS acquisitions are programmed since October 2002.
